A SPACE FOR VISUAL ART

Moasir Siera (°2000, Antwerp) is a Belgian painter who lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium, where he graduated with a master’s degree in fine arts from the Sint-Lucas School of Arts Antwerp in 2025. His practice explores themes of esotericism, metaphysics and non-duality. Often using mixed-media painting, installation, and curation, he creates shrine-like collaged works that stage binary tensions: of presence and absence, the sublime and the existential, usually through abstract expressionism, erosion and metaphysical choice of materials. This same engagement with non-duality, metaphysics and esotericism drives his curatorial interest in exhibition-making as a space for material and metaphysical inquiry.



That You Are brings all of Moasir Siera's work together for his first solo exhibition hosted at Arttelex. In a series of paintings and installations, Siera poses his work as reflections on the complex relationship with his own search for the infinite, while existential currents of life turbulently seek for ways of expression. This theme can be seen as a red thread throughout his work.

That you are, that thou art or tat tvam asi, is one of the oldest and most compressed statements in non-duality. It signifies that what you are looking for outside yourself, the absolute reality, is what is looking.

Siera's paintings and installations embody this search and realization for transcendence through their materials and the process they arise from. As he treats the canvas as a mirror of himself, the works turn into self-portraits of his own search for the light, the sublime.

Siera came to themes of Advaita Vedanta, alchemy and Zen through lived experience, as they continue to transcend as mere subject matter and fuel his work’s practice. The same frameworks run through his curatorial work: Can an exhibition space be a space for material and metaphysical inquiry? Can the process of looking extend from merely looking at work into looking at the act of looking, as far as to reach even the question of who or what it is that is looking; to see even the seer?

That You Are invites you to analyze the mechanisms of looking itself whilst using the works presented as extensions of this mental quest for freedom. See reality, notice what has covered it, what has worn away and what remains ever present. While viewing the forms of this world, you are invited to ask what or who is doing the looking.

Siera’s work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions across his home city of Antwerp, where he continues to develop his practice, rooted in curatorial- and metaphysical inquiry, and the aesthetics of Self-transcendence.
